The UEFA Champions League league-phase standings have witnessed major developments following the conclusion of Wednesday's Matchday 4 fixtures, with Real Madrid, Arsenal and Liverpool among the teams making headlines.
According to a report by Sky Sports on November 4, 2026, Real Madrid maintained their impressive run in the competition after coming from behind twice to defeat AEK Athens 3-2 in a dramatic encounter.
Federico Valverde proved to be the match-winner, scoring a stoppage-time goal to secure all three points for the Spanish giants. The victory extended Madrid's winning record to four matches, taking their points tally to 12 and placing them second in the standings behind Paris Saint-Germain, who occupy the top position with the same number of points but a better goal difference.
Arsenal also strengthened their position among the leading teams after recording a 2-1 away victory over Slavia Prague. The result gave Mikel Arteta's side another important three points, taking them to 10 points from four matches and moving them into third place on the league-phase table.
However, Liverpool experienced their first setback in this season's Champions League campaign after suffering a 3-2 defeat against Fenerbahce in Turkey. Despite taking the lead twice during the encounter, the Premier League side eventually surrendered their advantage as the Turkish club completed a comeback victory. The result ended Liverpool's perfect start and left them with nine points from four games.
Manchester City also enjoyed a successful outing, securing a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig to move to nine points. Como were among the biggest winners of the night after producing an extraordinary performance to defeat Lens 9-1, taking their points tally to nine and strengthening their chances of finishing inside the top eight.
In other matches, Borussia Dortmund claimed a 2-1 victory over Real Betis, while Porto recorded an impressive 4-1 win against Napoli. Club Brugge also secured a 2-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven, and Viking defeated Sabah 4-1.
Following the latest round of fixtures, Paris Saint-Germain remain at the summit of the Champions League standings with 12 points, ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference. Arsenal occupy third place with 10 points, while Como, Barcelona, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool are among the other clubs currently featuring in the top eight.
Under the Champions League's league-phase format, 36 teams compete, with each club scheduled to play eight matches against different opponents.
The eight highest-ranked teams at the end of the league phase will automatically advance to the round of 16, while clubs finishing between ninth and 24th position will have to compete in the knockout play-off round for a chance to reach the next stage of the competition.
