Rogers, Jacquet, Konsa: Who Has Been The Best Summer Signing In The Premier League

Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa has emerged as an early favourite for the Premier League's signing of the season after making an impressive start to life under Mikel Arteta.

According to a report by The Athletic on Monday 2 November 2026, the England international has been one of the standout performers among the players who arrived during the summer transfer window, which saw Premier League clubs spend a record £3.5 billion.

Konsa joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in a £55 million deal and has quickly established himself as a reliable partner for Gabriel in central defence.

The 28-year-old has recorded six clean sheets in 10 starts, with particularly impressive displays in Arsenal's 1-0 victories away to Sunderland and Liverpool.

His performances have helped the Gunners maintain the league's strongest defensive record, having conceded only five goals in their opening nine matches.

Although William Saliba is expected to return from a back injury later this month, Konsa's contribution has strengthened Arsenal's defensive options and given Arteta a difficult selection decision.

Chelsea's Morgan Rogers is another leading candidate following his £117 million move from Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old has adapted quickly at Stamford Bridge, scoring five Premier League goals and providing an assist. His impressive partnership with Cole Palmer has also improved Chelsea's attacking threat.

Rogers' individual goal against Manchester United further demonstrated his quality and ability to influence important matches.

Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet has also impressed since arriving from Rennes. The 21-year-old has formed a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk, showing confidence in possession and composure when defending a high defensive line.

Manchester City's Elliot Anderson is another notable name. Signed for £116 million from Nottingham Forest, the midfielder has adapted well to replacing Rodri and brought energy and control to City's midfield.

Other players recognised include Brighton defender Luka Vuskovic, Bournemouth's Antonio Silva, Brentford midfielder Mamadou Sangare, Tottenham's Sandro Tonali, Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and Johan Manzambi.

The early assessment highlights how several summer recruits have already made significant contributions to their new clubs.

However, Konsa's defensive consistency and impact at Arsenal place him among the strongest candidates as the race for the Premier League's signing of the season develops.
