According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday October 31, 2026, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has become the most-used outfield player across Europe's top five leagues this season after featuring for 1,161 of the club's 1,170 minutes.
The French international has missed just nine minutes of action, highlighting his importance under manager Jose Mourinho.
Real Madrid's recent resurgence has been driven by Mourinho's tactical adjustments, which have improved the team's defensive organisation and midfield control. However, Mbappe's impressive goalscoring performances have also played a major role in their five consecutive victories.
According to MARCA, the 27-year-old has started every match this season, with Mourinho showing little willingness to substitute him. He has been taken off just three times, against Inter Milan in the 93rd minute, Sevilla in the 84th minute and RB Leipzig in the 88th minute.
His remarkable involvement has also produced impressive attacking numbers. Mbappe has scored 14 goals across all competitions, making him Real Madrid's leading goalscorer this season. Carlos Espi, Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham and Yan Diomande are the club's next-best scorers with three goals each.
Only Barcelona's Raphinha has scored more than Mbappe this season, with 15 goals. However, the Brazilian has achieved that tally with considerably fewer minutes on the pitch.
Despite his importance, Mourinho faces a difficult decision regarding the forward's workload. Mbappe is approaching his 28th birthday, and his explosive style of play makes proper recovery and fitness management increasingly important.
Real Madrid have upcoming fixtures against Racing Santander, AEK Athens and Valencia, giving Mourinho opportunities to manage his minutes. However, Mbappe is chasing a special La Liga goalscoring record against Racing and may be reluctant to miss the encounter.
With Barcelona remaining ahead in the title race, Real Madrid will want to maintain their winning momentum. Nevertheless, Mourinho must ensure his leading goalscorer remains fresh throughout the campaign rather than risk exhausting him early in the season.
