According to a report by London Evening Standard on Saturday October 24, 2026, Xabi Alonso has made two changes to Chelsea’s starting lineup for their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues aiming to continue their impressive run of results.
Chelsea enter the London derby after securing victories over Bournemouth and Everton, and they are targeting a third consecutive league win. The Blues are also pursuing a historic seventh straight Premier League victory against Tottenham.
One alteration was necessary following Emi Martinez’s absence. The goalkeeper recently underwent surgery on his jaw after Chelsea’s victory over Everton, creating an opportunity for Mike Penders to make his first Premier League start.
Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix, Levi Colwill and Jorrel Hato retain their places in what is expected to be Chelsea’s defensive back four. Meanwhile, Moises Caicedo captains the team and partners Jordan Henderson in midfield as Alonso prepares his side for the derby.
Pedro Neto also keeps his starting position after scoring twice against Everton in Chelsea’s previous outing. The Portuguese winger will feature alongside Cole Palmer, Geovany Quenda and Morgan Rogers in an attacking lineup designed to challenge Tottenham’s defence.
However, Joao Pedro misses out on the matchday squad, leaving Chelsea without another attacking option for the encounter.
Chelsea will rely on Penders to deliver a composed performance in goal, while Caicedo and Henderson are expected to provide midfield control and defensive protection. Neto and Palmer will also be important to the team’s attacking efforts as the Blues seek another positive result.
Confirmed Chelsea starting XI: Mike Penders; Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix, Levi Colwill, Jorrel Hato; Moises Caicedo (captain), Jordan Henderson; Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Geovany Quenda; Morgan Rogers.
Chelsea substitutes: Lucas Bergstrom Sharman-Lowe, Malo Gusto, Marco Palestra, Wesley Fofana, Valentin Barco, Nicoll-Jazuli, Romeo Lavia, Estevao Willian and Danny Welbeck.
