According to a report by Metro on Saturday November 7, 2026, former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has praised Noni Madueke following the Gunners' 1-0 victory over Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Walcott believes the 24-year-old is gradually finding his feet at the Emirates Stadium and playing with greater freedom and confidence after earning the trust of his teammates.
Madueke played an important role in Arsenal's victory, which was secured by Martin Odegaard's goal in the 72nd minute.
The England international caused problems for Hull City down Arsenal's right flank and was involved in the move that produced the winning goal.
His effort was initially saved by Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, but Odegaard reacted quickest to the rebound and found the back of the net from close range.
Speaking to Premier League Productions after the game, Walcott expressed his admiration for Madueke's recent performances.
"I think he's just playing with that freedom and confidence," Walcott said.
"I think the players around him understand if he loses the ball they'll get it back for him, and they trust him and they're giving him the ball more and more often because he does things that other players won't be able to do."
However, the former Arsenal forward admitted that Madueke can sometimes be frustrating, particularly because of the inconsistency associated with wingers.
"He can be frustrating, and you get that inconsistency with wingers, I was one of those at times who you'd get frustrated with. However, they'd always go and go again," he added.
Walcott urged the winger to continue playing with confidence and avoid overthinking his decisions when attacking opponents.
He believes Madueke's willingness to take on defenders, get shots away and make dangerous runs into the penalty area makes him a difficult player for opposition defenders to handle.
The former England international also highlighted the difference between Madueke and Bukayo Saka, explaining that the two Arsenal attackers offer different qualities in the final third.
"He's a different player to Bukayo Saka as well, he does things a little bit different, I've been really impressed with him because he's had to be patient," Walcott said.
Madueke joined Arsenal from Chelsea in a reported £52 million transfer last year but has faced criticism from sections of the club's supporters over his performances.
Nevertheless, Walcott believes the winger is gradually establishing himself in Mikel Arteta's team and showing why Arsenal invested heavily in his services.
His contribution against Hull City will provide another confidence boost as Arsenal continue their pursuit of the Premier League title.
The Gunners will also be encouraged by the growing understanding between Madueke and his teammates, particularly as they look to maintain their advantage at the top of the table.
