According to a post shared by the official Premier League account on Sunday November 1, 2026, Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has received special recognition following his impressive performance in the Blues' 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League highlighted the Belgian midfielder's contribution by sharing a video of his performance during Saturday's encounter, accompanied by a nine-word message praising his work rate.
The caption read: “Romeo Lavia covering every blade of grass for Chelsea.”
The message has attracted attention from football supporters because of the midfielder's impressive display against Michael Carrick's Manchester United side, as Chelsea secured an important victory in front of their home supporters.
Lavia started alongside Moises Caicedo in Chelsea's midfield and played an important role in helping the team control the encounter. The 22-year-old remained involved throughout the match, contributing defensively while also helping his team move forward with the ball.
His performance was particularly important in the build-up to Chelsea's opening goal. Lavia provided the assist for Morgan Rogers, who broke the deadlock in the 50th minute after making an excellent run through Manchester United's defence before lifting the ball past goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
The goal gave Chelsea the advantage after a competitive first half in which both sides created opportunities but struggled to find the breakthrough.
Chelsea eventually doubled their lead through Cole Palmer, who converted a penalty in the 64th minute after Lisandro Martinez was sent off for a second bookable offence following a VAR review.
The dismissal made the task more difficult for Manchester United, who were unable to recover from the setback as Chelsea secured all three points.
Lavia's contribution was reflected in the match statistics. He completed the full 90 minutes and registered an assist, while also recording an impressive passing performance. Opta's match data showed that he completed 64 of his 72 attempted passes.
The Belgian midfielder's display was another encouraging sign for Chelsea, particularly after his previous injury problems had limited his opportunities to establish consistency in the team.
