Confirmed World Cup Final Fixture After Nigeria Defeated South American Giant 3-1

According to a report by ESPN on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Nigeria's Flamingos are set to battle Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after both teams emerged victorious from their respective semi-final encounters in Morocco.

The much-anticipated final will take place on Saturday, November 7, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, with kick-off scheduled for 6:30 pm GMT, which is 7:30 pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria secured their place in the final with an impressive 3-1 triumph over Brazil. The Flamingos stepped up their performance in the second half, with Queen Joseph opening the scoring in the 56th minute.

Awawu Bashiru then took centre stage, finding the back of the net twice. She doubled Nigeria's lead in the 71st minute before completing her brace nine minutes later to put the Flamingos 3-0 ahead. Brazil managed to score a consolation goal through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute, but Nigeria held on to secure their historic victory.

Japan, on the other hand, booked their place in the final after overcoming defending champions DPR Korea in a dramatic penalty shootout. Japan fell behind in the 52nd minute but managed to level the score deep into stoppage time through an own goal in the 90+5th minute. They subsequently won the penalty shootout 4-1 to advance.

The result sets up an exciting final between Nigeria and Japan, with both nations having battled through difficult encounters to reach the tournament's biggest stage.

For the Flamingos, the match presents a historic chance to win their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup title. Nigeria previously finished third in the 2022 edition, but the current team has surpassed that achievement by reaching the final for the first time.

Japan, meanwhile, will be equally determined to lift the trophy after eliminating the defending champions to earn their place in Saturday's showdown.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the decisive encounter, where Nigeria will hope to complete their remarkable campaign by defeating Japan and becoming world champions for the first time.
