According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Arsenal moved level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table after beating Everton 2-0, while Aston Villa defeated City 2-1 to end the leaders' perfect start to the season.
Manchester City remain first with 21 points after eight matches, with Arsenal also on 21 points following their seventh victory of the campaign. Arsenal's win brought them level with Pep Guardiola's side, although City retained top spot on goal difference.
Arsenal took the lead against Everton through Ezri Konsa in the seventh minute before Gabriel Magalhaes doubled their advantage in the 68th minute. The result strengthened Mikel Arteta's side's position in the title race and increased the pressure on City after their first league defeat.
City lost 2-1 away to Aston Villa, with Nicolas Jackson scoring twice for Unai Emery's team. Erling Haaland briefly restored parity after the break, but Jackson's second goal secured all three points for the hosts. Villa moved up to sixth place with 11 points.
Brighton remain third with 16 points, while Chelsea dropped to fourth with 14 points after suffering a 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool occupy fifth place with 12 points ahead of Sunday's fixtures.
Chelsea struggled to turn possession into goals against Tottenham, with Cole Palmer forcing an early save from goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Mohamed Kudus and Omar Marmoush also threatened for the visitors, while Jordan Henderson and Pedro Neto tested Kinsky before the break.
The decisive moment came in the 77th minute when Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders accidentally punched a Tottenham corner into his own net. The hosts' task became more difficult when Palmer received a second yellow card for a foul on Conor Gallagher.
Tottenham took advantage of their numerical superiority three minutes before the end of normal time. Mathys Tel drove forward, beat Maxence Lacroix and fired into the bottom corner to seal the victory. The result ended Chelsea's six-game unbeaten home run and lifted Tottenham to 15th place with seven points.
Elsewhere, Fulham defeated Coventry City 1-0, with Oscar Bobb scoring in the 80th minute. Fulham moved to 12th with eight points, while Coventry remained 19th with six points.
The standings could change further on Sunday, October 25, when Liverpool host Brighton, Manchester United face Bournemouth, Crystal Palace meet Newcastle United, Hull City take on Brentford, and Sunderland play Leeds United.
