Arsenal Star Hits Back at Virgil van Dijk After Liverpool Win: ' I Don't Forget

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Sunday November 1, 2026, Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie appeared to send a subtle message to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk following the Gunners' impressive 1-0 Premier League victory at Anfield.

The Ecuadorian defender sparked reactions among Arsenal supporters after sharing an Instagram post with the caption "I don't forget", which many interpreted as a response to the Dutchman's previous social media activity.

Arsenal secured their first Premier League victory at Anfield since September 2012 on Sunday. Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal in the first half to give Mikel Arteta's side a memorable three points.

The result also helped the Gunners return to the top of the Premier League table. They now hold a three-point advantage over Manchester City after the defending champions suffered another defeat against Brighton on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool struggled to turn their dominance into meaningful attacking opportunities. Despite controlling large portions of the encounter, Andoni Iraola's men failed to seriously test Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. The defeat left the Reds fifth in the standings and nine points behind the league leaders.

Hincapie played a part in Arsenal's defensive effort after entering the match from the bench during the closing stages. Arteta introduced the versatile defender to replace Christos Tzolis as his team worked to protect their narrow advantage.

Following the final whistle, Hincapie shared several photographs from the encounter on Instagram. His post ended with a close-up image of the Premier League badge on his shirt sleeve, accompanied by the caption "I don't forget".

Arsenal supporters quickly connected the photograph to Van Dijk's similar Instagram post following the goalless draw between both teams at the Emirates Stadium in January.

Several fans praised Hincapie's apparent response in the comments section. Some suggested that the defender deliberately recreated the Liverpool captain's previous gesture.

Although Hincapie did not mention Van Dijk directly, his post has generated considerable excitement among Arsenal supporters.
