According to a post by Fabrizio Romano on X on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Alexander Isak admitted that Liverpool should have secured victory in their UCL clash against Turkish side, Fenerbace but failed to take advantage of the opportunity.
The Swedish striker acknowledged that playing away from home presented a difficult challenge. However, he felt Liverpool had enough quality to win and should not have allowed the opportunity to slip away.
"I think it's a game we should win, but obviously it doesn't come for free," Isak said.
He explained that Liverpool understood the difficulty of the fixture before travelling. Nevertheless, the forward was disappointed with how the team handled the contest and ultimately allowed the result to escape them.
"We know that it was gonna be a challenge to come here, but it was sloppy to let this one go," he added.
Isak’s comments reflected the frustration within the Liverpool camp after a performance that did not produce the result they wanted.
His assessment suggested that the team recognised the challenge but also believed they could have done more to secure the points.
The striker’s remarks also highlighted the importance of maintaining concentration in difficult away fixtures.
Against challenging opponents, small mistakes and lapses in execution can determine whether a team leaves with a positive result.
For Liverpool, the disappointment will centre on the feeling that the match offered an opportunity they failed to take.
Isak acknowledged the difficulty of the assignment but insisted that the team should have managed it better.
His assessment provides an indication of the standards Liverpool expect from themselves.
Despite recognising that victories are never guaranteed, the forward believes his side should have done enough to avoid dropping the opportunity.
