According to a post on Le Marca Sports official X account on Friday October 30, 2026, Galatasaray forward Rafael Leão has expressed his appreciation for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian forward allowed him to take a penalty during their 4-0 victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Friday.
Leão, who scored his first goal for Galatasaray in the encounter, revealed that he had encouraged Osimhen to score twice following the birth of his second child, Liora Audrey, on Thursday.
According to the Portuguese international, he had jokingly challenged the Nigerian striker to celebrate the arrival of his newborn daughter by scoring two goals against Konyaspor.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a powerful header from Gabriel Sara's free kick before Yunus Akgün doubled Galatasaray's advantage in the 28th minute.
Aleksey Batrakov extended the visitors' lead in the 49th minute, while Leão completed the 4-0 victory from the penalty spot in the 55th minute.
Speaking after the match, Leão disclosed that Osimhen could have taken the penalty himself to complete his brace but instead handed him the opportunity to score his first goal for the Turkish champions.
He expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian striker, describing him as a teammate he was happy to have at the club.
“I’m very grateful to him. He knows how much I struggled for that goal. Osimhen's second child was born, so I told him before the match, you have to score two goals today.”
“He could have scored the second goal, but he passed it to me. I'm really happy to have a teammate like that,” Leão said.
The gesture highlighted the growing understanding between the two forwards, with Osimhen putting his teammate's opportunity to score ahead of his personal ambition to add another goal to his tally.
Meanwhile, Osimhen's goal against Konyaspor took his league tally to nine goals in eight appearances this season.
Galatasaray remain at the top of the Turkish Süper Lig table following the convincing victory as they turn their attention to their upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture against VfB Stuttgart.
