Barcelona Playmaker’s Remarkable Run Ends After a Fresh Injury Against PSG

According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday October 22, 2026, Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo has suffered a fresh injury setback after picking up an adductor tear during the 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, bringing his remarkable run of consecutive appearances for the Catalan club to an end.

The Spanish international is expected to spend at least four weeks on the sidelines, meaning he will miss Sunday’s crucial El Clasico clash against Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The injury comes at a disappointing time for Olmo, who had enjoyed an extended period of fitness and established himself as an important figure in Hansi Flick’s team.

According to the report, Olmo’s withdrawal against PSG ended a run of 44 consecutive appearances for Barcelona across the calendar year of 2026.

The 28-year-old had featured in 32 matches during the 2025/26 campaign before making another 12 appearances for the club so far this season. He had also played in every Barcelona fixture this term before the setback.

Including his international commitments with Spain, Olmo had already accumulated 15 appearances in the current campaign.

The PSG encounter was also a significant occasion for the midfielder, as he made his 100th appearance for Barcelona. However, the milestone was overshadowed by the injury that forced him off the pitch.

Olmo has been a valuable player for Flick, offering creativity, intelligent movement and a threat in the final third. His ability to link midfield with the attack has made him an important option in Barcelona’s offensive setup.

His absence will therefore be a concern for the Catalan side as they prepare for a demanding period in their domestic and European campaigns.

Barcelona must now face Real Madrid without one of their influential attacking players, while Flick will have to consider alternative options to maintain the team’s creativity and attacking balance.

The injury also adds to Barcelona’s existing fitness concerns, with Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen among the players dealing with their own injury problems.

Olmo is expected to miss several matches during his recovery, although his precise return date remains uncertain. Barcelona will monitor his progress before determining when he can return to full training and competitive action.
