AVL 1-0 MCI: Four Worst Man City Players in First-Half of The Premier League Clash

According to a report by Flashscore on Saturday October 24, 2026, Manchester City struggled to make their first-half possession count as they went into the break trailing Aston Villa 1-0 in their Premier League clash.

Nicolas Jackson gave Villa the lead in the sixth minute after receiving a pass from John McGinn before firing into the top-left corner. Although City created several opportunities, their finishing and defensive discipline left room for improvement.

1. Rayan Cherki

Cherki struggled to turn his attacking involvement into a meaningful contribution for Manchester City. In the 21st minute, he received a precise low pass inside the penalty area and fired towards the middle of the goal, but Zion Suzuki comfortably saved his effort. He later dribbled past several challenges in the 36th minute, only for a Villa player to dispossess him. His first-half performance was also affected by indiscipline, as he received a yellow card in the 38th minute for a foul.

2. Iliman Ndiaye

Ndiaye had opportunities to make a difference but failed to beat Suzuki. In the 13th minute, he found space outside the penalty area and unleashed a powerful effort towards the left side of the goal. However, the Villa goalkeeper produced an excellent save to deny him. Ndiaye also struck the left post with a long-range attempt in the 28th minute. Despite getting into promising positions, he could not provide the breakthrough City needed.

3. Abdukodir Khusanov

Khusanov showed attacking intent but struggled to make his opportunities count. In the 12th minute, he delivered a low pass into the penalty area that was intercepted, although City won a corner from the situation. He came closer to scoring in the 24th minute after running towards goal and shooting from just outside the box. However, Suzuki made an impressive save to keep the ball out. His opening-minute foul also highlighted a difficult start.

4. Josko Gvardiol

Gvardiol endured a challenging first half as City struggled to contain Villa's attacking threat. In the 25th minute, he was penalised for tripping an opponent, giving Villa an opportunity to move forward. City also conceded early after Jackson broke into the penalty area and finished clinically in the sixth minute, Exposing City's defensive struggles in the first-half.
