Chelsea have been handed two encouraging developments following Strasbourg’s impressive 5-1 victory over Auxerre, with loanee Dario Essugo and transfer target Gessime Yassine producing outstanding performances.
According to a report by The Athletic on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, Essugo opened the scoring in the 41st minute, while Yassine delivered a remarkable attacking display that could strengthen Chelsea’s interest in signing him.
The Blues have several reasons to monitor Strasbourg closely, with Filip Jorgensen, Essugo and Genesis Antwi currently spending time at the French club on loan.
Former Chelsea youngsters Deivid Washington and Omari Kellyman also joined Strasbourg permanently during the summer transfer window.
However, Sunday's performance provided particular encouragement for Chelsea, both regarding Essugo's development and their reported interest in Yassine.
Essugo found the net with a strike from the edge of the penalty area before completing an impressive midfield performance.
The 21-year-old registered five tackles and one interception, underlining his contribution beyond the goal.
The midfielder has now recorded two goals and one assist in seven Ligue 1 appearances this season, accumulating 381 minutes.
Yassine, however, was the standout performer against Auxerre. The Moroccan winger assisted Martial Godo's goal before winning a penalty following an impressive individual run.
He subsequently scored twice, finding the net with a left-footed effort inside the penalty area before adding a close-range header.
The 20-year-old also played a role in Auxerre's disciplinary problems, with midfielder Lamfia Dioubate sent off for a violent challenge after Yassine had beaten him with a nutmeg.
Yassine now has four goals and three assists in nine Ligue 1 appearances this season, taking his overall goal contributions to seven.
Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the youngster ahead of a potential move next summer.
Although the Blues already have several left-footed attacking options, including Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto, Geovany Quenda and Cole Palmer, Yassine's performances could make him an attractive opportunity.
His continued development and Essugo's progress represent two positive developments for Chelsea as they maintain close attention on Strasbourg.
