According to a report by The Sun Football on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been left distressed after his £4 million home in Cheshire was targeted by masked burglars while he was in Italy with his team for Champions League action.
The alleged break-in took place as United suffered a 4-1 defeat against Como. Reports indicate that three masked individuals entered the six-bedroom property in Nether Alderley after cutting through a fence at the rear of the estate, which is surrounded by thick woodland.
The suspects reportedly searched the house before escaping with designer jewellery and other valuable possessions. The incident came to light after a neighbour noticed unusual activity near the property and alerted the police.
Officers from Cheshire Police are said to have reached the scene within 10 minutes of receiving the report. However, the suspected burglars had already left before their arrival. Investigators and forensic specialists subsequently examined the property on Thursday, looking for fingerprints and potential CCTV evidence that could help identify those involved.
People reportedly close to Fernandes have expressed concern about the impact of the incident on the midfielder and his family. The invasion of their private residence is said to have left them deeply upset, particularly given the expectation that their home would offer protection from the pressures associated with life in the public eye.
The reported burglary has also renewed concerns about the security of professional footballers’ homes when they travel for matches. There are fears that criminals may use publicly available fixture schedules to identify when wealthy players are away from their properties.
Police have appealed for assistance from anyone who may have information about the incident. Residents and motorists who noticed anything suspicious around Nether Alderley on Wednesday evening, or who have dashcam recordings that could be relevant, have been encouraged to come forward.
Detectives are continuing their inquiries to determine exactly what happened and identify those responsible for the reported break-in.
