According to a report by The Sun on November 7, 2026, Arsenal have paid an emotional tribute to their late life president, Ken Friar. The Gunners have decorating walkway outside the Emirates Stadium with photographs and memorable quotations. The tribute celebrates his extraordinary contribution to the North London club.
The Ken Friar Friar died in October 2026 at the age of 92. Interestingly, a bridge out dude the stadium, which bears his name, has been decorated with hanging flags displaying pictures and memorable messages reflecting his long association with Arsenal.
One of the prominent quotations displayed reads, “My life and heart is and remains with Arsenal.” The message also features on a billboard outside the stadium. This highlights the deep connection Friar maintained with the club throughout his life.
Friar's association with Arsenal began in 1950 when he joined the club's box office as a young employee. He subsequently rose through the administrative ranks, becoming club secretary in 1973.
He later spent 23 years as the club's managing director. One of his most notable contributions was his involvement in Arsenal's historic relocation from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, which opened in 2006.
After stepping down from his executive responsibilities, Friar was appointed life president in 2020 in recognition of his remarkable service and commitment to the club.
Interestingly, his contributions to football were recognized with an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). He also received the Freedom of the Borough of Islington for his services to the community.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta previously described Friar as a remarkable individual whose dedication, personality and vision helped shape the club's identity, culture and values.
The latest tribute adds to the statue already erected in his honour outside the Emirates Stadium, ensuring his legacy remains part of Arsenal's history.
