Chelsea Fans Send Xabi Alonso Warning Ahead Of Tottenham Clash

Chelsea fans have warned Xabi Alonso against complacency ahead of Saturday’s London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, insisting the Blues must remain defensively organised despite their strong record against their rivals.

According to a report by The Athletic on Friday, 23 October 2026, supporters believe Chelsea have the quality to extend their winning run against Spurs but must avoid underestimating a team that has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks.

Chelsea have won their last six meetings with Tottenham, including a 2-1 victory in May that left Spurs facing serious relegation concerns. Overall, the Blues have recorded 39 wins, 21 draws and eight defeats against Tottenham in the Premier League.

Alonso’s side head into the fixture in good form after victories over Bournemouth and Everton since the international break.

Another win would give Chelsea three consecutive victories and strengthen their hopes of securing Champions League qualification.

However, supporters have stressed that Tottenham remain dangerous opponents, particularly if Chelsea allow them too much time and space to build attacks.

One fan warned that Chelsea must be “careful not to fall into the trap” of assuming the match is already won, arguing that high pressing and forcing mistakes in Tottenham’s half could prove decisive.

Tottenham have recently shown encouraging signs under Roberto De Zerbi. They drew with Manchester United before beating Coventry City 3-1 on Monday to secure their first Premier League victory of the season.

The potential returns of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie from injury could also strengthen Spurs ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Another Chelsea supporter warned that the game might not be as straightforward as some expect, urging Alonso to ensure his players remain disciplined at the back.

Defensive organisation has been a concern for the Blues this season, despite their clean sheet against Everton in their previous league outing.

The return of Moises Caicedo has improved Chelsea’s midfield balance, but the team will need a collective effort to restrict Tottenham’s attacking opportunities.

Chelsea possess considerable attacking quality, with Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto offering threats going forward.

However, supporters believe the team must maintain its current approach rather than make unnecessary tactical changes.
