According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday November 3, 2026, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr has taken another significant step in his football career after receiving his first call-up to Portugal's Under-17 national team.
The 16-year-old forward has been selected for the squad that will compete in the upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Andorra, Bulgaria and Serbia.
The Portuguese Football Association confirmed his selection on Tuesday, November 3, marking a promotion for the youngster from the country's Under-16 team.
The call-up represents an important milestone for Ronaldo Jr as he continues to develop his career and follow in the footsteps of his legendary father, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Currently registered as Cristiano dos Santos, the teenager has spent much of his youth career at clubs where his father previously played. He developed in the academies of Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United before moving to Saudi Arabia, where he is currently part of Al Nassr's youth setup.
Ronaldo Jr has reportedly been in impressive form for Al Nassr's Under-17 team this season, scoring three goals. He has also attracted attention for his attacking qualities, including his aerial ability, strength in possession and capacity to use both feet.
His physical development has also been a talking point, with reports claiming that he has grown taller than his father, who stands at 1.87 metres.
The Portugal Under-17 promotion could provide the youngster with an opportunity to test himself against stronger opposition and gain valuable experience at international level.
Meanwhile, the development has renewed attention on the possibility of Ronaldo Jr eventually joining Al Nassr's senior team.
Reports earlier this year suggested that the Saudi Arabian club had considered integrating the teenager into first-team training sessions to accelerate his progress.
Such a move would bring him closer to fulfilling one of his father's biggest football dreams. Cristiano Ronaldo has previously expressed his desire to play alongside his eldest son in a professional match before bringing his career to an end.
The 41-year-old Portugal captain continues to play at the highest level and remains determined to extend his career, with the remarkable milestone of 1,000 career goals also within reach.
For now, Ronaldo Jr's immediate focus will be on making an impression with Portugal's Under-17 side during the European Championship qualifiers.
His latest promotion is another important chapter in his development, as he looks to establish his own identity in football while carrying the famous Ronaldo name.
