Tenerife Striker Jesus De Miguel Dies At 30 After Match Collision

According to Reuters, published on November 3, 2026, CD Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has died at the age of 30 after suffering a cardiac arrest following a collision during a Spanish second-division match against FC Andorra.

The tragic incident happened on Monday, November 2, during the closing stages of the encounter at Tenerife’s Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez Stadium. De Miguel was chasing a long ball when Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono rushed out of his area and collided with him.

The Tenerife forward collapsed following the challenge, leaving players from both teams immediately calling for medical assistance. Owono was shown a straight red card as medical personnel rushed onto the pitch to attend to the injured player.

De Miguel received treatment on the field before being transported to hospital by ambulance. Despite the efforts to save him, the striker died on Tuesday morning, with CD Tenerife confirming his passing in an emotional official statement.

The club announced that he died at 8:00 a.m. local time on November 3. His death came after an earlier medical update revealed that his neurological condition had deteriorated while he was receiving treatment.

The match was abandoned following the incident, while news of his death prompted tributes from clubs and football organisations across Spain. FC Andorra, Barcelona and Real Madrid were among those who expressed condolences to his family and everyone connected with Tenerife.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation also postponed all matches scheduled for Tuesday as a mark of respect following the tragedy.

De Miguel joined Tenerife from Castellon ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. He scored 11 goals last season, having previously played for several clubs in Spanish football.

His death has left his club and the wider football community mourning the loss of a player whose career ended in deeply tragic circumstances. His family has requested privacy as they deal with the loss.
