Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana could be heading for a permanent departure next summer, with Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Galatasaray reportedly interested in securing his services.
According to a report by Football Transfers on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, both clubs are monitoring the Cameroonian international as uncertainty continues over his long-term future at Old Trafford.
Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in 2023 for approximately €50 million, arriving as David De Gea’s replacement. However, his spell in England has been inconsistent, with several costly mistakes affecting his reputation despite some impressive performances.
Following growing doubts about his future, the 30-year-old eventually left United on a season-long loan to Trabzonspor. His temporary spell has subsequently been extended for another season, allowing him to continue his career in Turkey.
Trabzonspor are reportedly interested in making the move permanent after becoming impressed with his recent performances. The Turkish club could be prepared to pay around €10 million to secure his signature next summer.
Onana is understood to be comfortable at Trabzonspor, although it remains unclear whether he wants to make his stay permanent. His original decision to leave Manchester United was reportedly influenced by his desire to regain confidence and eventually return to one of Europe’s major leagues.
However, developments at Trabzonspor could change his thinking. The club have enjoyed an encouraging start to the season under new manager Thomas Reis, winning all six matches he has overseen so far.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray have also emerged as potential competitors for the goalkeeper’s signature. According to Africa Foot, the Turkish champions are interested in Onana as they consider their goalkeeping options following the departure of Ugurcan Cakir, whom they reportedly signed from Trabzonspor for €30 million.
Manchester United could also benefit from the growing interest, particularly because Onana’s contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028. Selling him next summer would give the club an opportunity to recover part of the money invested in his transfer rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee later.
For now, Trabzonspor appear well positioned to secure the goalkeeper permanently, but Galatasaray’s interest could complicate negotiations and give United more options when deciding his future.
