Chelsea have received a boost ahead of their Premier League meeting with Manchester United, with Cole Palmer expected to be available despite his red card against Tottenham Hotspur.
According to a report by Football London on Saturday 24 October 2026, Palmer will serve his one-match suspension in Chelsea’s upcoming Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool, allowing him to return for the Premier League fixture against Manchester United.
The England international was sent off during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham at Stamford Bridge after receiving two yellow cards in the space of 10 minutes.
Palmer was first booked in the 71st minute before receiving his second yellow card nine minutes later following another rash challenge.
His dismissal raised concerns among Chelsea supporters, who feared the attacking midfielder would miss their crucial league encounter against Manchester United.
However, the suspension rules mean Chelsea can avoid losing their influential player for the Premier League fixture.
Because Palmer was dismissed after receiving two yellow cards rather than a straight red card, he faces a standard one-match suspension.
The ban applies across domestic competitions, meaning he can serve it during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup fourth-round encounter with Liverpool.
As a result, the 24-year-old is expected to be available when Xabi Alonso’s side host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
Palmer’s availability will be important for Chelsea as they look to recover from their disappointing defeat to Tottenham and return to winning ways.
The midfielder remains a key attacking figure for the Blues, and his return would provide Alonso with an additional option as the team prepares for another demanding Premier League fixture.
