Former Super Eagles player Sunday Oliseh has disclosed that the death of his younger brother changed his outlook on life, making him increasingly conscious of how limited his time on earth might be.
According to a video posted on Global Football Insight’s YouTube channel on Friday, October 23, 2026, Oliseh made the revelation during an interview on the channel’s podcast, where he discussed his personal priorities and how recent losses had influenced his decisions.
Speaking about what matters most to him, the former footballer identified his children as his foremost priority, explaining that he wants them to have a better life than he has experienced. He described them as his seeds and said he considers himself blessed.
Oliseh explained that losing his younger brother made him realise how unexpectedly life could end, prompting him to reconsider how he spends his time.
“The one that is dawning on me, that has been dawning on me since July 17 last year, is that my time on earth is limited, very, very limited,” he said.
He added that the realisation had strengthened his determination to pursue his personal goals and focus on the things that bring meaning to his life rather than postpone them.
The former Super Eagles coach also recounted another recent loss, revealing that a friend had been buried two to three weeks before the interview. He said he was unable to travel to Nigeria in time to attend the burial because the arrangements were made at short notice.
Reflecting on these experiences, Oliseh stressed that nobody could be certain of what tomorrow would bring or even whether they would have the next two hours.
He further admitted that football was no longer his highest priority, acknowledging that the statement might disappoint some people. He also disclosed that he had other personal priorities but preferred not to reveal them publicly.
