Fermin Lopez snubs Man United interest as Barcelona star pledges long-term future to Camp Nou

According to a report by GOAL on Sunday November 1, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has dealt Manchester United a major blow after dismissing speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford and expressing his desire to spend the rest of his career at Camp Nou.

The 23-year-old has reportedly emerged as a major transfer target for Manchester United as they look to strengthen their midfield in upcoming transfer windows.

The Premier League giants have been impressed by Fermin's performances for Barcelona, with his versatility, creativity and goalscoring ability making him an attractive option.

However, United could struggle to convince the Spanish international to leave Catalonia, with the midfielder making his position clear when asked about speculation surrounding his future.

Speaking after Barcelona's victory over Deportivo Alaves, Fermin dismissed reports linking him with a move away from the Spanish giants.

"I don't pay attention to this type of news. I want to be at Barca as long as possible and I hope to finish my career at this club," he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Fermin's comments represent a significant setback for Manchester United, who are reportedly considering him as one of their preferred midfield targets.

The midfielder recently underlined his importance to Hansi Flick's side with an outstanding performance in Barcelona's 6-1 victory over Alaves.

He scored once and provided two assists for Raphinha, earning the Man of the Match award after playing a major role in the emphatic victory.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Fermin said Barcelona had rediscovered their identity after a difficult period.

"We have made a good match, we have found ourselves again, we managed to recover our identity and our true level and now we must continue playing in this way," he explained.

Despite his impressive contribution, the midfielder admitted that Flick's demanding playing style was taking a physical toll on him.

Fermin revealed that he was exhausted towards the end of the match but was instructed by the Barcelona manager to remain on the pitch for a little longer.

Manchester United may now have to consider alternative options as they continue their search for midfield reinforcements, with Fermin making it clear that his long-term future remains at Barcelona.
