According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday October 24, 2026, Galatasaray midfielder Aleksey Batrakov has praised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for his relentless desire to win, describing him as a perfectionist who gives everything to achieve victory.
The Russian midfielder shared his experience of training alongside Osimhen, explaining how a mini-tournament during his first training session at the Turkish club revealed the Nigerian forward's competitive mentality.
According to Batrakov, Osimhen's determination was evident throughout the contest, as the striker showed just how much winning means to him.
"Osimhen is a perfectionist. Top-notch in every sense. It was my first training session, we held a mini tournament among ourselves, and that's where I understood what kind of perfectionist he is, how he always wants to win," Batrakov said, as quoted by Forza Cimbom.
The midfielder also recalled a memorable moment during the tournament, when a match ended 2-2 before the players proceeded to a penalty shootout.
Rather than taking the decisive penalty himself, Osimhen handed the responsibility to Batrakov, giving his teammate the opportunity to secure victory.
"He will do anything to win. The match ended 2-2 and went to penalties. Osimhen gave me the final penalty, he said, 'you take it.' I scored, and he came running to me from the other end of the field to join in my celebration. It was an incredible gesture," he added.
Batrakov's account highlights another side of Osimhen's personality, showing that his competitive nature is accompanied by a willingness to trust and encourage his teammates.
The Nigerian international is widely recognised for his intensity, determination and commitment on the pitch. Batrakov's experience suggests that the same mentality is evident during training sessions, where Osimhen reportedly approaches even informal competitions with a strong desire to win.
His decision to allow Batrakov to take the decisive penalty also demonstrated his willingness to share the moment with a teammate rather than seeking personal recognition.
The praise comes ahead of Galatasaray's Turkish Süper Lig encounter against Fenerbahçe on Monday, October 26.
Osimhen and Batrakov will hope to contribute to Galatasaray's efforts in the highly anticipated fixture, which presents another opportunity for the team to demonstrate its quality and competitive spirit.
