According to a report by FootballTransfers on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has rejected suggestions that he could join Manchester United, revealing that his ambition is to spend the remainder of his playing career at Camp Nou.
The 23-year-old Spanish midfielder has reportedly become a transfer target for United, who are assessing their options ahead of next year's recruitment campaign. Chelsea are also believed to have maintained an interest in López after previously pursuing a deal for him.
Despite the growing transfer speculation, Barcelona have no plans to part ways with the midfielder. López has also made his position clear, expressing his desire to remain with the Spanish giants for as long as possible.
When questioned about Manchester United's reported interest following Barcelona's convincing 6-1 win against Alavés, the midfielder dismissed the rumours.
"I don't pay attention to that kind of news," he stated.
"I want to stay here at Barça as long as possible. I hope to end my career at this club and retire in a Barcelona shirt."
The midfielder has been one of Barcelona's standout performers this season, contributing six goals and six assists in 13 matches across all competitions. His impressive performances have seen his estimated transfer value increase to €116.5 million.
With a deal for López looking increasingly improbable, Manchester United are expected to focus on alternative targets as they prepare to strengthen their squad next year. Their recruitment plans reportedly include signing a new left-back and a central defender.
Newcastle United's Lewis Hall remains one of their preferred options at left-back, even though he recently committed his future to the Magpies by signing a contract extension. Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde is another player under consideration, having found regular first-team opportunities difficult to come by this season.
Meanwhile, Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite continues to be linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford. United are reportedly considering him as a possible replacement amid expectations that Lisandro Martínez could leave the club in 2027.
In addition to their defensive targets, Manchester United may also look to strengthen their attacking options by recruiting another striker. Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi has reportedly entered their radar after producing an impressive 13 goals in his opening 15 appearances this season.
