Premier League Table and Match Review After Sunday's Fixtures

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Liverpool secured a convincing 2-0 win against Brighton in their Premier League clash, with an own goal from Pascal Gross and a first-half finish from Alexander Isak ensuring the hosts collected all three points.

Liverpool made an impressive start and broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Gross inadvertently directed the ball into his own net. The Reds quickly strengthened their advantage four minutes later, with Isak finding the back of the net from close range after receiving a well-timed assist from Bradley Barcola.

Brighton attempted to recover from the early setback, but their efforts failed to produce a goal. Yasin Ayari missed a promising opportunity before coming close to scoring with a long-range attempt that struck the right post in the 36th minute. Liverpool also created further chances, although Alexis Mac Allister failed to convert a close-range header, while Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen comfortably dealt with Cody Gakpo’s effort.

Liverpool maintained their control after the interval, limiting Brighton’s opportunities to mount a comeback. However, the hosts suffered a setback when Florian Wirtz was forced off with an injury in the 65th minute. Brighton continued searching for a breakthrough, but Alisson Becker produced an important late save to deny Charalampos Kostoulas. Liverpool ultimately preserved their two-goal advantage until the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth delivered a commanding performance at Old Trafford, defeating Manchester United 3-0 on Sunday to hand Michael Carrick’s team a disappointing home loss.

Bournemouth opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Rayan finished confidently following Justin Kluivert’s free-kick delivery. The visitors increased their lead shortly before half-time after Marcus Tavernier punished a defensive error, converting from close range to put United under additional pressure.

Manchester United struggled to respond effectively despite creating opportunities. Djordje Petrovic made an excellent save to prevent Bryan Mbeumo from scoring, while Matheus Cunha squandered a promising chance after the restart.

Bournemouth completed their impressive victory in the 71st minute when Evanilson exploited another defensive weakness and calmly finished from the edge of the penalty area. United attempted to reduce the deficit, but Leny Yoro headed over from a favourable position.

Bournemouth remained organised and comfortably protected their three-goal lead, leaving Manchester United frustrated after a disappointing performance in front of their home supporters.
