According to a report by London Evening Standard on Tuesday November 3, 2025, Manchester United suffered another worrying setback during their Champions League encounter against Roma after summer signing Carlos Baleba was forced off with an apparent hamstring injury.
The Red Devils welcomed the Italian side to Old Trafford on Tuesday, hoping to end their nine-game winless run, but experienced another difficult opening.
Roma quickly punished United's defensive weaknesses, with Matias Soule opening the scoring before Donyell Malen converted a penalty to establish a two-goal advantage inside eighteen minutes.
The disappointing start increased frustration among home supporters, who directed their anger towards the club's leadership, including chief executive Omar Berrada and football director Jason Wilcox.
Supporters also staged a planned demonstration, throwing tennis balls onto the pitch while balloons descended from the Stretford End during the frustrating encounter.
However, Michael Carrick faced another concern when Baleba suffered an injury during the second half, adding to United's difficult evening.
The midfielder had made an encouraging forward run from the middle of the pitch and appeared dangerous as he advanced towards Roma's penalty area.
Unfortunately, he suddenly grabbed his right hamstring while approaching goal, immediately going down in considerable discomfort and requiring medical attention.
Baleba subsequently left the pitch, with fellow summer recruit Youri Tielemans introduced as his replacement, leaving United concerned about the midfielder's condition.
The setback represents another frustrating development for Baleba, who joined United from Brighton towards the end of the summer transfer window.
His arrival had already been complicated by an existing ankle problem, which delayed his early involvement following his move to Old Trafford.
United will now await further medical assessments to establish the seriousness of his latest injury and determine how long he could remain unavailable.
