Arsenal Star Breaks Four-Year-Old Premier League Record After Impressive Performance vs Liverpool

According to a report by GOAL on November 2, 2026, Kai Havertz has made history by becoming the highest-scoring German player in Premier League history after helping Arsenal secure a memorable 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The Arsenal forward reached the remarkable milestone just 16 minutes into the encounter, finding the back of the net to give his side all three points. The goal took his Premier League tally to 46, moving him ahead of former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who previously held the record among German players.

Havertz’s latest strike was also his third league goal of the 2026/27 campaign and his 27th across all competitions in an Arsenal shirt. More importantly, it proved decisive in ending the Gunners’ 14-year wait for a Premier League victory at Anfield.

The milestone arrived at an important moment for the 27-year-old, who had been struggling to find the back of the net in recent weeks. Before Sunday’s encounter, Havertz had gone nine consecutive matches without scoring across all competitions, marking his longest goal drought since October and November 2023.

Interestingly, he also ended that previous barren spell with a decisive goal in a 1-0 away victory, on that occasion against Brentford. Sunday’s performance therefore provided another timely reminder of his ability to deliver when Arsenal need him most.

Havertz has now scored twice in the Premier League this season to secure winning goals for Mikel Arteta’s side, already surpassing his total of match-winning strikes from the previous campaign.

The German international began building his Premier League scoring record during his spell at Chelsea, where he registered 19 league goals between 2020 and 2023. His time at Stamford Bridge also included the memorable goal that secured the Blues’ Champions League triumph in 2021.

He now leads an impressive list of German players to have scored in the Premier League. Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross sits third with 34 goals, followed by former Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil on 33. Tottenham favourite Jurgen Klinsmann recorded 29, while former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack finished his Premier League career with 17.

Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz, meanwhile, has scored five Premier League goals.

Havertz has also struggled against Liverpool throughout his career, with Sunday’s effort representing only his second goal in 12 appearances against the Merseyside club. His previous strike came while playing for Chelsea in August 2021.
