According to a report by GOAL on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Bayern Munich assistant coach Aaron Danks has provided an update on Vincent Kompany’s condition after the Belgian manager collapsed during a training session last Friday.
The 40-year-old was taken to hospital after collapsing while watching Bayern’s reserve team train. The German champions subsequently confirmed that Kompany was undergoing medical examinations and would remain under medical care.
Kompany had reportedly been suffering from a viral infection before the incident and had also been dealing with a hip problem in recent weeks.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Danks revealed that he had visited the Bayern manager and was encouraged by his progress.
“I paid him a short visit yesterday,” Danks said. “He is in good spirits. It looks like every day he is getting better. There are no major updates in terms of diagnosis or return to work. Let him rest, let him take his time.”
Danks added that their conversation was friendly and did not focus on football or tactical matters.
“We had some good conversations with Kompany but kept it away from football and specific tactics. It was just a friendly chat and nice to see him and catch up,” he said.
Despite the encouraging update, Bayern have yet to confirm when Kompany will return to his coaching duties. His assistants are continuing to oversee training and match preparations while he recovers.
Bayern recorded a 3-1 victory over Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday and are preparing for their German Cup match against Magdeburg on Wednesday.
The reigning German champions will then face Borussia Dortmund in a crucial Bundesliga encounter on October 31 before taking on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Bayern are currently top of the Bundesliga table, level on points with Dortmund ahead of their meeting this weekend.
The club will hope Kompany continues to recover well, although his return date remains uncertain as he is given time to rest and receive the necessary medical care.
