Real Madrid Superstar Considering Potential Departure Amid Chelsea, Man United Interest

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday October 31, 2026, Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly considering leaving Real Madrid amid growing frustration over his limited playing opportunities, with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United monitoring the defender’s situation ahead of a potential return to England.

The England international joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, but his career in Spain has not developed as expected. Injuries and limited appearances affected his debut campaign, while his situation has barely improved this season.

According to journalist Rodra P, via Defensa Central, Alexander-Arnold is contemplating returning to England because he is unhappy with his current circumstances at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Liverpool defender has managed just 345 minutes of competitive football this season, struggling to establish himself as a regular starter under manager Jose Mourinho.

Alexander-Arnold has reportedly dropped behind Denzel Dumfries and Federico Valverde in the right-back hierarchy, with Mourinho increasingly favouring the Uruguayan midfielder in that position.

The situation has understandably frustrated the 28-year-old, although he is not prepared to abandon his Real Madrid career immediately. Instead, he wants to continue fighting for his position without creating unnecessary tension within the dressing room through a transfer request.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Manchester United have emerged as potential destinations should the defender decide to end his difficult spell in Spain. Both Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in securing his services.

However, completing a potential transfer could prove complicated because Alexander-Arnold remains under a long-term contract at Real Madrid, giving the Spanish giants considerable negotiating power.

His substantial salary at the Bernabeu could also create financial difficulties for interested clubs, potentially delaying any negotiations.

For now, there is no immediate development regarding his future. Nevertheless, continued struggles for regular football could eventually push Alexander-Arnold towards an England return, with Chelsea and Manchester United monitoring the situation.
