According to a report by Sky Sports on Wednesday October 28, 2026, Bruno Fernandes is feeling more settled after holding face-to-face talks with Manchester United manager Michael Carrick following their recent disagreement over the team's tactics.
The Manchester United captain was dropped from the starting lineup for Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth after publicly criticising Carrick's tactical approach following the 4-1 Champions League loss to Como.
However, the pair have now held clear-the-air talks at United's Carrington training ground in an attempt to resolve their differences and focus on improving the club's results.
According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, Carrick and Fernandes met on Tuesday, with both men agreeing to put the disagreement behind them and concentrate on turning United's season around.
Dorsett reported that it remains unclear whether Fernandes apologised for his public criticism of the manager.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler reported that the midfielder feels more settled following the meeting, having endured a difficult week in which he was dropped against Bournemouth and his house was burgled.
Carrick also held a separate meeting with the wider squad and coaching staff, with the discussions described as productive. The players reportedly acknowledged that their performances had been below expectations and expressed a determination to make a fresh start.
Despite United's struggles, the club have decided to keep Carrick in charge for at least Saturday's Premier League clash against Chelsea.
The Red Devils are currently on an eight-match winless run across all competitions, increasing pressure on the manager to deliver an improved performance.
According to reports, Fernandes is expected to be available for selection against Chelsea and could return to the starting lineup after being left out against Bournemouth.
His potential return would provide a significant boost for United as they look to end their poor run of results and restore confidence within the squad.
For now, Carrick and Fernandes appear ready to move forward, with their immediate priority being to help Manchester United get their season back on track.
