Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has praised Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, placing the Frenchman among the greatest left-sided attackers in football history alongside Brazilian icon Ronaldinho.
According to a report by Football London on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Kroos made the remarks while discussing some of the finest players to have operated on the left wing throughout football history.
The German midfielder initially left Henry out of his selection but later acknowledged the omission and revised his assessment, placing the former Arsenal striker joint-second alongside Ronaldinho, with Cristiano Ronaldo occupying the top position in his ranking.
Explaining why Henry deserved recognition, Kroos highlighted the Frenchman's performances during his time at Arsenal, where he frequently started from the left before moving into central attacking positions.
He said: “At Arsenal, he often started from the left, and that was brilliant. But he would 1,000 per cent be a striker for me,” he later explained further.
Kroos subsequently admitted that Henry deserved to share the second position with Ronaldinho, adding: “I would actually put him joint-second with Ronaldinho.”
The former Real Madrid star also joked that he owed an apology for initially overlooking the Arsenal legend when making his selection.
Henry remains one of the most celebrated players in Arsenal's history, having produced outstanding performances during his successful spell under former manager Arsene Wenger.
During his most influential years in North London, Arsenal frequently operated with a 4-4-2 formation, allowing Henry to lead the attack while players such as Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg occupied wider positions.
Although he was primarily deployed as a striker at Arsenal, his ability to drift towards the left flank, use his pace and create scoring opportunities made him particularly difficult for defenders to contain.
His role later changed at Barcelona under Pep Guardiola, where he regularly operated as a left-sided forward in a 4-3-3 formation.
Kroos' comments have once again highlighted Henry's versatility and lasting influence on football, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most memorable attacking players of his generation.
