According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has expressed his pride after receiving the Socrates Award at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.
The 25-year-old was recognised for his humanitarian efforts and charitable work, which have helped children and families in London and other parts of the world.
Saka and his family have supported several charitable organisations, including long-term projects with Big Shoe.
Saka received the award at the London Palladium on Monday night, with Nigerian singer Burna Boy presenting the honour to the Arsenal star.
Speaking during the ceremony, Saka said: “For me it’s an honour to be here and it’s an hour to receive this award on behalf of all the children we’ve been able to help.”
The England international later shared pictures from the event on social media, accompanied by a message highlighting his achievements both on and off the pitch.
"Some of the best things this year happened both on and off the pitch. Proud of what we’re building. Grateful to receive the Sócrates Award, and continue to make an impact where we can," Saka wrote.
The recognition comes as the Arsenal forward continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, which has raised concerns about his availability for upcoming fixtures.
While Saka celebrated his achievement, the ceremony also brought success for England captain Harry Kane, who won the men's Ballon d’Or after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Bayern Munich and the national team.
Kane scored 73 goals for club and country during the season, becoming the first Englishman to win the prestigious award in 25 years, following Michael Owen’s triumph in 2001. He also claimed the Gerd Muller Trophy.
Several Arsenal players featured among the nominees for the men's award. Declan Rice finished 15th, Gabriel placed 21st, while William Saliba came 29th.
Meanwhile, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya missed out on the Yashin Trophy to Spain international Unai Simon.
Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente also won the Men's Coach of the Year award ahead of nominees that included Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
