Namibian club African Stars have parted ways with head coach Gerald Güther less than a month after appointing him, following a disappointing start to the season.

The club’s management made the decision after Güther oversaw just two official matches, including a disappointing two-legged preliminary-round tie against Orlando Pirates in CAF interclub competition. African Stars suffered heavy defeats in both legs, ending their continental campaign prematurely. Consequently, the club’s leaders acted swiftly as frustration grew over the team’s early performances.

Meanwhile, African Stars must now find a successor capable of restoring confidence and improving their results in the domestic league. Güther’s swift departure highlights the intense pressure African clubs place on coaches, particularly when continental campaigns end earlier than expected. With the season underway, the new coach will face the challenge of getting the team back on track.
