Five strikers Man Utd can sign in January after Benjamin Sesko hammer blow

The Red Devils are short in the striker department and could be forced into the market.

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has been ruled out of action until January in what is another blow for the Red Devils. It's been a miserable season so far for the 20-time English champions, who have won just two of their last 12 matches across all competitions and are winless in their last eight.

One of the matches in that winless run was a League Cup defeat to Brighton, which, incidentally, was also Sesko's last outing for United. But that period of absence is set to continue, with Sesko likely to miss at least another 13 matches before he returns in 2027 from a shin problem.

Express Sport pick out five potential strikers United could target in the January transfer window to bolster their attack with Sesko struggling to stay fit...

Victor Osimhen
This would certainly be a blockbuster transfer if it were to happen, but never say never. Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, but it would require some serious investment to pry the Nigerian marksman away from Turkey. He would surely cost upwards of £80million, if not over £100m. (Image: Getty)
Igor Matanovic
Igor Matanovic was rumoured to be a late target for United before the summer window slammed shut, but a move didn't materialise. Instead, he's continued banging the goals in for Freiburg and it wouldn't be a surprise if United came knocking again. He would be a more cost-friendly option. (Image: Getty)
Charalampos Kostoulas
This would be a very United signing. Poaching the best-performing players from other Premier League teams has been their modus operandi, and Charalampos Kostoulas has certainly started the season on fire. Again, though, it wouldn't be cheap to pull the Greek frontman away from Brighton. (Image: Getty)

Troy Parrott

Troy Parrott
It's been quite the come-up for Troy Parrott, who has continued his stellar performances at Real Betis. This would be a shock, given he only moved to Spain in the summer, but there's talk of a £70m release clause, which could tempt United. That fee still does seem a bit steep for the Irishman, though.
