Ghana’s Spintex Knights have qualified for the Elite 16 of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) after winning all three games in the Division West group phase.

The Knights sealed qualification with a 92-71 victory over Benin’s Energie Basketball Club on Friday, October 23, in Tripoli, Libya, to finish top of Group B.

The Elite 16 stage will take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from November 10 to 15. Spintex Knights made history last year by becoming the first Ghanaian team to reach the Elite 16. However, they were unable to progress beyond that stage.

The team will now look to build on its perfect group-stage run and reach the next phase of the continental competition.

Benjamin Ashitei put up 22 points and 11 rebounds while Tyreek Malik Temple registered 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Knights to victory.

James Amotoe was a rebound shy of a triple double after registering 16 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in 29:39 minutes.

Amotoe ended the competition as the player with the most assists after averaging 11.5 assists in three games.
