Manchester City Fans Lose Patience as Maresca Suffers Third Straight Premier League Loss

Manchester City Fans Demand Action After Another Disappointing Defeat

Manchester City supporters are becoming increasingly frustrated with Enzo Maresca after their team suffered another disappointing Premier League defeat, this time against Nottingham Forest.

City travelled to the City Ground hoping to recover from consecutive league defeats against Aston Villa and Brighton. However, their afternoon turned into another difficult experience as Nottingham Forest secured an impressive 3-1 victory.

The result has intensified the pressure on Maresca, who is already facing questions about his tactical approach, defensive organisation and ability to get the best out of his players.

Following the final whistle, Manchester City supporters took to social media to express their disappointment. Reactions to a City Xtra post on X revealed growing frustration, with several fans questioning the manager’s future.

Some supporters even called for Maresca to be dismissed immediately.

Although emotions were understandably high, the comments reflected a worrying change in the mood surrounding the club. After such a difficult run of results, supporters are beginning to demand answers.

Nottingham Forest Expose Manchester City’s Defensive Problems

Manchester City’s defeat was particularly disappointing because of the manner in which Nottingham Forest took control of the match.

The hosts started aggressively and immediately exposed weaknesses in City’s defensive structure.

Jair Cunha opened the scoring in the sixth minute after taking advantage of a mistake by Joško Gvardiol. The Forest defender advanced into the attacking area before calmly finishing past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Things became even worse for the visitors when former City academy striker Liam Delap doubled Forest’s advantage in the 18th minute.

Delap collected possession inside his own half, drove forward and finished powerfully to leave Donnarumma with little chance.

City were suddenly two goals behind, and their performance offered very little reassurance.

There were opportunities to respond before half-time. Enzo Fernández missed a promising headed chance, while Erling Haaland saw an effort cleared off the line by Cunha.

Maresca made two defensive substitutions at the interval, introducing Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly.

The changes initially appeared to improve City’s performance.

Rayan Cherki produced a spectacular half-volley in the 52nd minute to reduce the deficit and give the visitors renewed hope.

However, Delap struck again in the 73rd minute, completing his brace and restoring Forest’s two-goal advantage.

City could not find another response.

The 3-1 defeat represented their third consecutive Premier League loss, leaving them six points behind Arsenal at the top of the table.

For supporters, the result was another indication that significant problems remain unresolved.

‘Sack Him Tonight!’ – Supporters Lose Patience With Maresca

One of the strongest themes emerging from the reactions was the growing frustration with Enzo Maresca.

Some Manchester City supporters believe the manager has failed to establish the consistency and control expected at the club.

One particularly frustrated supporter, posting under the username @Dr_demilade, delivered a blunt message:

“SACK HIM TONIGHT!!!!!”

It was an unmistakable expression of dissatisfaction with the manager’s current situation.

Another supporter, @Icybiss, directed criticism towards Maresca’s tactical decisions and Ruben Dias’ involvement in the disappointing performance.

Meanwhile, @SadAsd80750576 described the overall situation as embarrassing.

These reactions demonstrate how quickly the atmosphere can change when Manchester City repeatedly fail to deliver the results supporters expect.

Maresca succeeded Pep Guardiola in June 2026, inheriting a club with enormous expectations and a demanding footballing culture.

However, replacing a successful manager was always going to bring pressure. Supporters expected the new head coach to establish his own identity while maintaining City’s competitive standards.

Three consecutive league defeats have made that challenge considerably more difficult.

Not every supporter is necessarily demanding an immediate managerial change. Nevertheless, the increasing number of comments questioning Maresca’s position suggests that patience is beginning to disappear.

Tactical Decisions Become a Major Talking Point

Beyond the calls for Maresca to leave, supporters also questioned the tactical decisions contributing to City’s disappointing performances.

The most interesting selection-related reaction came from @alpbr10, who specifically called for Ayyoub Bouaddi to receive an opportunity.

The supporter wrote:

“Play Bouaddi.”

It was a short message, but it highlighted an important issue surrounding City’s team selection.

When results deteriorate, supporters naturally begin looking towards players who could provide something different.

Bouaddi was among the substitutes against Nottingham Forest but was not introduced during the match.

His absence became another talking point for a supporter who believes City could benefit from giving younger players more opportunities.

City’s midfield performance also deserves attention.

Forest repeatedly found opportunities to move forward, while City’s attempts to establish control were inconsistent. The hosts were particularly effective at exploiting spaces during transitions.

This was a major problem because Maresca’s footballing philosophy places considerable importance on possession, positioning and controlling matches.

However, possession becomes less valuable when opponents can repeatedly create dangerous opportunities by attacking the spaces left behind.

The manager must find a solution.

Whether that involves changing the midfield structure, adjusting the defensive line or introducing different personnel, City need greater protection when possession is lost.

Supporters will also want to see clearer decisions from the touchline.

The second-half substitutions briefly improved the situation, but they could not prevent another defeat.

‘More Losses Loading’ – Fans Fear the Situation Could Get Worse

Another noticeable theme was concern about what could happen next.

With City already suffering defeats against Aston Villa and Brighton, the Forest result has created fears that the difficult period could continue.

Supporter @shyboss1998 summed up that anxiety with a sarcastic prediction:

“Okay!! More losses loading.”

The comment reflected the pessimism developing among sections of the fanbase.

For a club accustomed to competing for major trophies, three successive Premier League defeats are difficult to accept.

More importantly, the results have arrived during a period when City should be building momentum.

The international break now offers Maresca an opportunity to assess the situation, work on the team’s weaknesses and prepare his players for the next challenge.

However, the manager cannot afford to treat the break as an excuse.

City have conceded too many goals, made costly individual mistakes and struggled to maintain control during important moments.

The defensive problems are particularly concerning.

Against Forest, Gvardiol’s mistake contributed directly to the opening goal, while the second goal exposed the team’s inability to stop an opponent carrying the ball through midfield and into a dangerous shooting position.

Delap’s third goal also demonstrated how vulnerable City could be when committing players forward.

These are issues that require collective improvement rather than simply blaming individual players.

Maresca Must Find Answers Before the Pressure Increases

Another reaction came from @Dr_demilade, who questioned whether City were heading towards a difficult future under the current management.

The supporter suggested that the manager’s handling of the team could make the upcoming Barcelona challenge particularly worrying.

While the comment was emotional, it reflected a wider concern about whether City currently have the tactical organisation required to compete against Europe’s strongest sides.

The defeat against Forest should therefore serve as a serious warning.

Maresca has inherited a talented squad, but talent alone cannot guarantee success.

Players must understand their responsibilities, defensive transitions must improve and the team needs to demonstrate greater discipline when opponents apply pressure.

City also need their experienced players to take responsibility.

Ruben Dias, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Erling Haaland and the other senior figures must help restore confidence within the dressing room.

At the same time, Maresca needs to demonstrate that he is willing to make difficult decisions.

That includes reassessing his starting selections, considering opportunities for players such as Bouaddi and finding a better balance between attacking ambition and defensive security.

The manager still has an opportunity to turn things around, but performances and results must improve quickly.

Manchester City Supporters Want Immediate Improvement

The reactions to City Xtra’s post reveal a fanbase that is increasingly concerned about the direction of the team.

Some supporters have already reached the point of demanding Maresca’s dismissal. Others are questioning his tactics, selection decisions and ability to prevent another defeat.

There were also shorter expressions of disappointment, including messages such as “EMBARRASING” and “Cool”, illustrating the different ways supporters responded to another frustrating afternoon.

It is important to recognise that social media reactions do not necessarily represent every Manchester City supporter.

However, the comments provide a useful indication of the frustration developing among sections of the fanbase.

The defeat against Nottingham Forest was not simply another disappointing result. It was City’s third consecutive Premier League loss, and it exposed weaknesses that Maresca must address.

The six-point gap to Arsenal also makes the situation more concerning.

Manchester City still have time to recover, but they cannot afford to continue dropping points while their rivals maintain their momentum.

The upcoming international break gives Maresca an important opportunity to reflect and prepare his team for the remaining fixtures.

Ultimately, supporters want to see a response on the pitch.

They want better defending, more effective midfield control, smarter tactical decisions and players who demonstrate the urgency required to win football matches.

Maresca arrived at Manchester City with enormous expectations following Guardiola’s departure.

Now, he faces one of his biggest tests since taking charge.

The question is no longer simply whether City can recover from one disappointing afternoon.

It is whether Maresca can stop this worrying run before frustration among Manchester City supporters becomes an even bigger problem.
