Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong made his return to action in a blaugrana shirt in the 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou. The Netherlands international suffered a knee ligament injury and the Clásico was his first appearance in a Barça shirt for five months.
De Jong's last game for Barça came in the final league game of last season away at Valencia at the end of May. 155 days later he made his return in a Barça shirt after missing the start of the season due to a knee problem.
De Jong came on at Camp Nou in place of Fermín in the 74th minute. The Dutchman brought energy and experience to the midfield despite being on the losing side at the final whistle.
The midfielder had a chance on goal late in the game but his shot was blocked by Real Madrid defender Huijsen. De Jong pressed the blaugranes forward but it was not to be on his return to action in the Clásico.
