Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs that have set their sights on a versatile attacker who has been taking the Turkish Super Lig by storm this season.

There is no doubt that Spurs have to add goals to their forward line in January, and the Lilywhites are not just short of a number nine who can put the ball into the back of the net.

Their wide players, Mathys Tel, Savio and Mohammed Kudus, have only managed two goals between them this term, while their other goal threat, James Maddison, has only started twice due to his injury issues.

It has now emerged that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are turning their attention to a Russian international, who has been on fire in the final third since his big summer move.

Tottenham battling four other Premier League giants for Aleksey Batrakov

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham could make a move for Galatasaray attacker Aleksey Batrakov, who is taking the Super Lig by storm since his summer move from Lokomotiv Moscow.

The versatile attacking midfielder, who can also operate wide on the left, has already registered five goals and three assists in nine starts, and this includes four goals in the Champions League this term.

Spurs have not had a Russian player in their ranks since Roman Pavlyuchenko left the club in 2012, but they do not have a straightforward run at the Galatasaray star.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all tracking Batrakov and scouts from all three clubs were in attendance at Rams Park on Tuesday as the attacking midfielder scored in Galatasaray’s 2-0 win over Stuttgart.

United and Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old for a while, and the Gunners are now ‘stepping up their efforts’. Additionally, Batrakov is also appreciated by Manchester City.

One leading Premier League recruitment chief has described the attacking midfielder as a ‘special talent’ to the outlet.

Galatasaray aiming to remove Batrakov’s release clause

The interest in the Russian international is not restricted to the Premier League, with Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and PSG also keeping tabs on the player.

Despite the growing interest in Batrakov’s services, TEAMtalk say that a January departure is not considered the most likely outcome.

The midfielder insisted on adding a release clause to his Galatasaray contract when he joined in the summer, and the clause, thought to be worth £50m, will be active next summer.

However, the website adds that the Turkish club are working on offering Batrakov an improved contract in a bid to remove the release clause.
