After a spectacular run, Gustav Isaksen has reportedly been offered a long-term contract, as Lazio are keen to maintain his services for many years.

Gustav Isaksen Has Been Crucial for Lazio

The 25-year-old missed the first few games of the season as he was still recovering from the groin surgery he underwent in the summer. But after finding his form during the previous international break, the winger has been virtually unstoppable, scoring four goals in the last five Serie A rounds, including an astonishing lob that kick-started the comeback against Cagliari last Sunday.

Lazio Aiming to Keep Isaksen Until 2031

Il Corriere dello Sport and Il Messaggero both confirm that Lazio are planning to lock down the Danish international by extending his contract from June 2028 to 2031, illustrating the club’s ever-growing faith in his capabilities.

The Proposed New Salary

The new contract will naturally entail a significant pay rise. Isaksen currently earns circa €1.5 million, but his new salary should reach €2.5 million, making him one of the club’s best-paid players.

Isaksen to Fill in for Zaccagni as Lazio Captain

In addition to the new contract, the two Roman newspapers expect the Dane to don the captain’s armband when Lazio take on Napoli at the Stadio Marodona on Friday. The Biancocelesti are travelling south without their first captain Mattia Zaccagni, who picked up a muscle injury that should rule him out for one month or so.

Adam Marusic and Danilo Cataldi are considered the main vice-captains. However, they’re both expected to start the game on the bench. The Montenegrin right-back should earn his first call-up since the opening day of the season after finally recovering from a hamstring injury.

The Italian midfielder has been available in recent weeks, but Gennaro Gattuso is still favouring Reda Belahyane in the Regista role. Therefore, when the Lazio players make their way to the pitch on Sunday, Isaksen should be leading the queue. The winger has been at the club since the summer of 2023 and has thus far made 131 appearances.
