DURATA BATTERIES: Arafat Mustafa Leads Golden Boot Race as ERFA League 2 Hits 221 Goals

Arafat Mustafa of Mpulula Stars is leading the Golden Boot race in the ERFA Durata Regional Division League 2 with 12 goals as the competition heads into Week 14.

Mustafa has scored four goals more than his closest challenger, Edson Tendai of Becks Academy, who has found the net eight times after 76 matches.

Daudi Mustafa of Young Stars is third on the scoring chart with seven goals, while Chancy Evance of Marie Admark Lions, Pemba Wali of Chilanga United and George Saidi of Buffaloes FC have scored six goals each.

Manpower FC also has two players among the leading scorers, with Bashir Chimenya and Dines Mponda having registered five goals apiece.

The Golden Boot contest comes as the league continues to produce goals, with 221 scored in 76 matches, giving an average of about 2.9 goals per game.

The statistics also show that the competition has produced 16 braces, three hat-tricks and one glut. Nine penalties and six own goals have also been recorded.

Attention now shifts to Week 15, which could provide another opportunity for the leading scorers to improve their tallies, with several interesting fixtures lined up for Saturday and Sunday.

Mustafa’s Mpulula Stars will face Becks Academy FC at Cape Maclear on Saturday, November 7, in a fixture that will also see him come up against Tendai, his closest challenger in the Golden Boot race.

The meeting gives Tendai an opportunity to reduce the four-goal gap, while Mustafa will be hoping to strengthen his position at the top of the scoring chart.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Songani All Stars will host Young Stars at Songani Ground, where Daudi Mustafa will be looking to add to his seven-goal tally.

Sunday’s fixtures will see Legacy FC take on Manzy Academy at Zomba Works Ground, while Buffaloes FC face Chilanga FC at Prison Ground.

The weekend programme will also feature a meeting between Letico FC and Manpower FC at Blaimana Ground, with Manpower’s leading scorers Chimenya and Mponda hoping to add to their five goals each.

The ERFA Durata Regional Division League 2 brings together teams from Zomba, Machinga, Mangochi, Balaka and Phalombe, providing a competitive platform for football talent across the region.

The competition is sponsored by H Adams Wholesalers through its Durata Batteries brand, as part of efforts to support grassroots football development.
