Tour du Faso: 12 Countries to Compete in 37th Edition

The Tour du Faso organizing committee presented the highlights of the 37th edition during a press conference held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Ouagadougou.

Scheduled for October 30 through November 9, this edition will bring together riders from 12 countries, with three Burkinabe teams confirmed to compete.

The race will feature ten stages crossing eight regions of Burkina Faso, covering a total distance of 1,399.97 km. Transportation between stages will account for 988 km, bringing the total distance to 2,387.97 km.

The projected budget for the event is estimated at 420 million CFA francs. Each team will consist of six riders.

Participating teams will represent, among others, Burkina Faso, Belgium, Morocco, Ghana, Benin, Mali, Cameroon, the Netherlands, Algeria, and South Africa. Rwanda is also among the announced countries.

On the Burkinabe side, preparations have been underway for several weeks: 21 riders have been in training since September 21 in preparation for this major cycling event.

In another important announcement, Paul Daumont’s participation has been confirmed for this 37th edition. The two-time Tour champion, who currently races in Guadeloupe for CSCA Propreté 2000, was scheduled to fly to Ouagadougou on Wednesday.

The news was confirmed by Martin Sawadogo, national technical director of the Burkina Faso Cycling Federation.

Burkina Faso is thus preparing to host another edition of its major cycling event, with the goal of delivering a race that lives up to the expectations of the public and the participating teams.
