Man United Goalkeeper Onana Escapes Injury In Car Crash In Turkey

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has reportedly escaped injury after being involved in a frightening car accident in Turkey on Thursday night.

The Cameroon international, currently on loan at Trabzonspor, was travelling home with his family following his side’s 2-0 victory over Hearts in the UEFA Conference League when the incident occurred.

According to Turkish publication 61saat, as reported by Daily Star, the accident happened in the Yomra district of Trabzon shortly after Onana left the Papara Park stadium.

How The Incident Happened

The 30-year-old goalkeeper was reportedly driving when another vehicle struck his car from behind, forcing it into a vehicle travelling ahead.

The collision resulted in a multiple-vehicle accident, leaving Onana’s car damaged.

However, reports from Turkey indicate that the former Inter Milan goalkeeper and his family members, who were also in the vehicle, escaped without injuries.

Officials from Trabzonspor reportedly arrived at the scene after learning about the incident and checked on the welfare of the goalkeeper and his family.

The accident came just hours after Onana helped Trabzonspor secure an important European victory over Scottish side Hearts.

The Cameroon international kept a clean sheet as the Turkish club recorded a 2-0 win in their second UEFA Conference League fixture of the campaign.

Despite the frightening incident, initial reports suggest that Onana is in good condition, although further updates are expected regarding his availability for Trabzonspor’s upcoming matches.

Onana joined Man United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 but struggled for consistency during his time at Old Trafford.

He subsequently moved to Trabzonspor on loan for the 2025/26 campaign, helping the Turkish side finish third in the Super Lig and win the Turkish Cup.

His loan agreement was extended for another season, with the goalkeeper returning to Turkey for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Cameroon international remains contracted to United, having made 102 appearances for the Premier League club.
