Tottenham Hotspur fans have been frustrated by Destiny Udogie’s inability to stay fit, with the left-back consistently plagued by injuries over the last two years.

Udogie’s injury issues have prevented the Italian from fulfilling his huge potential at Tottenham following his excellent start to his time in North London.

His fitness issues have meant that the 23-year-old has only made two Premier League appearances so far this season, with summer signing Andy Robertson starting the bulk of the Lilywhites’ matches.

Speaking ahead of the game against Chelsea, De Zerbi admitted that managing Udogie’s workload has been a big problem.

The Tottenham boss said on Saturday: “He’s (Udogie) not available. With the medical staff, we are trying to find the best way for him, because managing the player is anyway work. But after Manchester United, I have not worked with him, and this is a problem.”

Tottenham are not planning to sell Destiny Udogie despite his injury issues

Some sources have claimed over recent days that Spurs may be open to cashing in on Udogie if they receive a suitable offer after being frustrated by his fitness issues.

However, journalist Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that the left-back is very much part of the Lilywhites’ long-term plans and the club are not entertaining the prospect of a sale for the moment.

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Tottenham are planning with Udogie for the long term. He’s under contract until 2030, so it would have to be a big, big offer to even make them consider cashing in on Udogie.

“The player himself is happy at Tottenham. I’m sure he will always attract interest, but as I said, Tottenham have no plans to be entertaining any offers right now.”

Udogie is not thinking about a Serie A return

There have been suggestions from Italian outlets that Juventus are plotting a move for the Tottenham left-back ahead of the January window.

This latest update from Football Insider confirms that Juve and Roma have registered an interest in taking Udogie back to Italy.

However, the website claims that the defender currently has no plans to explore a move away from North London. The former Udinese man is said to be happy at the Premier League club and currently has no plans to exit De Zerbi’s side.
