Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is locked in a three-way race with compatriot, Gift Orban, and Egypt captain, Mohamed Salah, for the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot after inspiring Galatasaray to a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce.
The trio have each recorded eight goals and three assists, setting up a keen contest for the league’s top scorer award. Osimhen scored twice in Monday’s Intercontinental Derby at RAMS Park, taking his league tally to eight and extending his scoring run to three goals in his last two matches.
The Nigerian, who won the Golden Boot with 26 goals two seasons ago, will be hoping to reclaim the award as the campaign progresses.
He dedicated the victory to Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, who recently celebrated his 53rd birthday, describing him as a father figure to the players. “We love our coach Okan Buruk very much. Beyond being our technical director, we love him like a father,” Osimhen said, according to Sporx.
