Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko believes rebuilding team spirit and encouraging greater accountability among the players will be crucial to Ghana’s efforts to get their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track.
Although the team have endured a difficult start to the qualifiers, Tanko remains confident in the quality within the squad.
However, he says the players must unite behind a common goal and recognise the responsibility that comes with representing the country.
“Ghana has a very good squad, with quality players who can compete,” he told Joy Sports.
“What matters is getting everyone to believe in the collective objective, understanding the responsibility of wearing the national colours and translating our potential into performances on the pitch.”
Ghana, four-time African champions, have struggled in their opening qualifying matches, losing consecutive games against Ivory Coast and The Gambia.
The Black Stars will now look to revive their campaign when they face Somalia in a double-header this month.
The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, with the return fixture set for November 16. Both matches are expected to take place in Ghana.
