Liverpool star Ronald Araujo has challenged his teammates to keep improving after a positive start to the season, as he looks ahead to the upcoming clash with Arsenal.
The Reds come into the weekend sitting fourth in the Premier League table, losing just once so far this campaign, with Andoni Iraola starting to get his star players fit and firing up front.
With Arsenal coming to Anfield, the Spaniard will be looking to learn even more about his group of players and what they are capable of doing. The Gunners were level on points with Manchester City in first at the start of the weekend, having been one of the standout sides so far in an early title race.
If Liverpool is to register another famous win at home, then it will need the whole squad of players to stand up when counted against such a side.
The frontline, who have started to find goals at important times for the team, will be put to the test against one of the sternest defenses in the league. Meanwhile the defense will also need to stand up to the test of a side that has plenty of quality in depth when it comes to the forward ranks.
Among those in the backline who will need to be at their best is Araujo. The Barcelona has been a surprisingly positive addition at right-back, despite it not being his natural position, with the Liverpool fans already falling in love with what he brings to the team.
Having shown the desire and work rate in a problem position for the Reds, as well as the defensive quality that has been missing there, it's been a positive start for the summer arrival.
However, Araujo has thrown down the gauntlet to his Liverpool teammates to push on and continue improving, rather than settling for where they are now. Speaking to the official Liverpool website, he said: "There's no doubt we're in a good moment. Personally, I'm convinced about the team that we have.
"Perhaps we didn't get the best of starts but, given the team that we have and the work and the philosophy the manager has for us, I was convinced that the team would continue to grow.
"We're in that development phase and it's great because that means that there is still room for improvement. So, we know we can give a lot more and we're working very hard to do that. It's a lovely moment but we have to keep going – we can't be satisfied.
"Now we have a really big challenge in front of us this weekend against a big rival, but we're playing at home with our fans and we'll give everything to get that victory."
A win for Liverpool would potentially rip the early weeks of the Premier League title race wide open, with the Reds moving within three points of Arsenal with a triumph.
It remains to be seen what could follow for Iraola and his group of players, but the clash with the Gunners will be a good litmus test of where they are after a decent start to the campaign.
