Arsenal are monitoring Monza striker Gustavo Varela, with the 21-year-old reportedly viewed as a possible alternative to Viktor Gyokeres.
Representatives of the Premier League club have been tracking the Portugal forward after his prolific start to the season. Varela has scored eight goals in seven competitive appearances, according to Arsenal Radar.
Arsenal could begin talks over the highly rated striker as early as January, although no deal has been confirmed.
Monza signed Varela from Benfica last summer for €2.5m. His current market value is estimated at €5m by Transfermarkt, but that figure is expected to rise significantly in the near future.
