Teungueth FC dropped its opening match of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, falling 0-2 to Cameroon’s Colombe FC at Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in Dakar, AfricaFoot reported. The Sunday fixture marked the first-ever continental meeting between the two clubs, leaving the Senegalese side with a difficult deficit to overcome ahead of the return leg.
Colombe FC seized control early in the Senegalese capital. Eyango struck in the 13th minute to put the visitors ahead, silencing the home crowd. Despite entering the fixture on a strong domestic run—having secured four wins and a draw in their previous five outings, alongside a 2-0 aggregate preliminary victory over FC Canchungo—Malick Daf’s side struggled to break down the Cameroonian defense.
Musah doubled Colombe’s advantage just after halftime, netting in the opening minutes of the second period. Raphael Ndong and his teammates pressed for a response, but the visiting defense held firm through the final whistle to secure the clean sheet.
The fixture brought together two domestic titleholders entering the contest on contrasting paths. Teungueth FC arrived at the top of the Senegalese elite division, while Colombe FC traveled to Dakar as the reigning champion of the Cameroonian Elite One. The visitors previously advanced past Stade Malien in the opening round, surviving a scoreless aggregate draw before winning 4-3 on penalties in Bamako.
Prior to kickoff, betting markets listed Teungueth as slight home favorites with 1xBet pricing a home win at 4.55, a draw at 3.25, and a Colombe victory at 2.13, according to AfricaFoot. Instead, the Cameroonian side maintained its five-match unbeaten run across all competitions to claim a crucial away advantage.
Ahead of their continental campaign, Teungueth FC received a training-ground visit from newly appointed Senegal national team coach Patrick Vieira. Vieira has made a series of visits to local clubs and stadiums since taking charge of the Lions, observing matches such as Guédiawaye FC versus Dakar Sacré-Cœur at Stade Amadou Barry.
Teungueth FC must score at least two goals to return to height with their opponent and hope to snatch qualification in the return fixture. The club acknowledged the challenge on social media, posting Faudra retrousser les manches et voyager à Yaoundé avec un esprit revanchard
following the final whistle, as cited by wiwsport.
The return match is scheduled for the following Sunday at 15:00 in Cameroon, where Teungueth will attempt to reverse the two-goal deficit and advance to the CAF Champions League group stage.
