Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold could be set for a return to English football, with Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him.

Journalist Simon Phillips reports that Chelsea’s interest is being driven by manager Xabi Alonso, who worked at Real Madrid until recently.

However, Chelsea may face competition from Liverpool, who are considering bringing back their former academy player. The report says Alexander-Arnold is currently not required by Jose Mourinho at Santiago Bernabeu.

Alexander-Arnold came through Liverpool’s academy before leaving the club, and a return to Anfield is now being considered by the Merseyside side.

The 28-year-old has made six appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions this season and has provided one assist.

Transfermarkt values the defender at 60 million euros.
